About the Email builder
What is the Email builder
The Email builder is our newest design tool in Flexmail. Using a drag and drop system, you can create stunning emails for every device in no time by dragging the desired structures and elements onto the canvas. You can use the time you saved to play around with the layout or to produce targeted content.
Why choose the Email Builder
Unlike the HTML editor and the Wizard, you have optimal design flexibility. It’s user-friendly (no HTML knowledge needed) and we ensure an optimal rendering in all different email clients, both on desktop, web or mobile. The possibility to further fine tune the mobile version of your message helps you in making sure your email will look it's best on every screen. Simply choose the number of columns and drag in the desired elements like spacers and lines, call to actions, images, lists or social media elements.
What does the Email builder consist of
The Email builder consists of 3 main area's:
- everything related to adding content to your email can be found on the left
- all configuration can be done on the right
- in the middle you'll find the canvas with your email and all contextual toolbars.
Every structure and every element can individually be configured, removed or duplicated.
Panels
In these area's you'll find the following panels:
Email style – Under the ‘Email Style’ icon on the right you can configure the general appearance of your message and the default configuration of your elements such as: the content width and it's alignment, background colors, font settings for your body text, headings and links and a button's default appearance.
Any settings you have configured in your account Brand kit will be pre-applied automatically.
Structures – Under the ‘Structures’ icon on the left you will find all rows you can add to the canvas. Each structure has a specific amounts of columns that come in preconfigured widths and can be filled with multiple elements.
You can drag a structure and all of it's contents around on the the canvas using the handle on the left side of the structure. A purple line will indicate were it will drop when released.
Clicking on a structure in the canvas will automatically open the Structure style panel and contains all settings for the selected structure.
Elements - Under the ‘Elements’ icon on the left you will find all available content elements. You can drag a new element into a structure you have added to the canvas or move it around using the handle on the right. The content elements can also be dragged and moved from one structure to another.
Clicking on an element in the canvas will automatically open the Element's style panel and contains all available settings for the selected element.
You can add:
- Headings
- Text
- Horizontal lines
- White space
- Buttons
- Images
- Social media icons
- Lists
Main toolbar
In the toolbar on top of your canvas you can switch between desktop and mobile view. It's also possible to undo and redo your recent actions using the arrow icons in this toolbar. On the right you can find a Save button and you can open a preview of your email.
Text editor toolbar
After clicking on an element that allows you to input text the text toolbar will show. The exact options your have in this toolbar will depend on the element you have selected on the canvas.
In a text element, for example, you can use this bar to add specific formatting or a link to a selection. Additionally, you have the option to insert personalization using the dropdown menu.
