Switching from the old to the new Email Builder: a Complete Guide

Our Legacy drag&drop builder reaches its end-of-life on January 30, 2026. Time to switch to our new, more powerful Email builder! This guide will help you through the transition step by step.

What is changing?

The new builder works differently under the hood and uses all modern technologies to make it as easy as possible for you to send professional and effective email campaigns, without technical knowledge.

The 5 biggest differences

1. New interface structure The new builder has a clearer layout with a left sidebar for placing elements and structures, a central workspace and a right sidebar for settings. This gives you more control and overview while building.

2. Brand kit as starting point Always start by filling in your brand kit in the settings. This saves you enormous amounts of time because all colors, fonts and styling are automatically applied to new elements.

3. Improved mobile settings You now have much more control over how your email looks on mobile devices. Each column and each element can be adjusted separately for mobile display. This way you can optimally adapt your message for your mobile audience.

4. New elements We have added new elements such as the social media element with more settings, list element and improved linking options that give you more design possibilities.

5. Template management You can now more easily save, manage and reuse templates. Plus: there are ready-made message templates available to help you get started.

New features since the launch

The new builder is continuously improved. Since the launch, these features have been added that you can now also use:

  • Sticky text editor: Text editing becomes even more intuitive via the fixed bar at the top of the screen
  • Inline image editor: You can edit images directly - within the context of your email - in the builder
  • Dynamic content: Choose per structure who should see your content, to make your emails even more personal
  • Message creation templates: Ready-made layouts to start quickly

Impact of the phase-out on existing emails

Existing emails Your current emails remain available, but the Legacy builder stops existing for your emails. We convert them to HTML format and they remain sendable. Don't need them anymore? Be sure to clean them up, also for the performance of your account.

Emails in automations Automation emails also continue to function, because they remain available in HTML format. You can update them later in the new builder when it suits you. As soon as you want to use a new version, you will need to update your automation flows.

Legacy builder templates Your old templates will no longer work and will therefore disappear. So be sure to take the time to rebuild them in the email builder. Fortunately, that's very simple.

Step-by-step plan: Your first template in the new Email builder

Step 1: Set up brand kit Before you start building: fill in your brand kit completely. This saves you a lot of time later and ensures consistent styling.

Step 2: Analyze your old template Look at your old template: what elements does it contain? What structure does it have? Take a screenshot for reference if necessary.

Step 3: Start with the basic structure Go to "Create new message" and choose Email builder. Start in your new, empty message. Start with the layout: how many columns do you need? What sections will be in your email?

Step 4: Add content Place your texts and images. Tip: add different variants of images to your brand kit for reuse.

Step 5: Apply styling Adjust colors, fonts and spacing. Thanks to your brand kit, this goes much faster than before.

Step 6: Mobile optimization Check how your email looks on mobile and adjust where necessary. Each column can be set separately. Think carefully about which mobile settings are universal for your template, and which settings you better apply only when you base individual emails on it.

Step 7: Test and refine Use the preview function to check your email and make final adjustments.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

When should I switch?

The Legacy builder will be shut down on January 30, 2026. We recommend starting with the Email builder for new campaigns now and gradually migrating your templates.

What happens to my existing emails?

Can I still use my old templates?

No, you will need to rebuild your old templates once in the email builder.

Where are my images?

All your images are still available in your media library. You can simply use them in the new builder.

The new builder looks very different, how do I find my way around?

The layout has become more logical: left elements, middle workspace, right settings. Start with the brand kit in your settings and take time to click around - you'll get used to it quickly!

Can I give my colleagues access to my templates?

Yes, templates work largely the same as before. You can now manage templates in the settings, and determine yourself which users get access to those settings.

Do my automations still work?

Yes, all existing automations continue to run just fine. The emails in them are automatically converted to HTML.

I see new elements, what do they do?

We have added elements such as improved social media buttons, list elements and improved text options. Experiment with them - they are designed to be intuitive!

Can I still A/B test?

Yes, all existing functionalities like A/B testing continue to work with emails from the new builder.

How do I save my new template?

Use the "Save as template" option at the top right in the builder. You can then manage your templates via the template overview.

The mobile version looks weird, what now?

The new builder gives you much more control over mobile display. Use the mobile preview and adjust column widths and element settings for optimal display.

Can I get help with the transition?

Yes! In addition to this guide, we are organizing another webinar and you can always contact support for individual questions as usual. Check your email for announcements.

Good luck with the new builder! The transition takes some time, but you will notice that the new possibilities are more than worth it.
